Mr Isaacson, knowing there was going to be a celebration of the 70 year career of Jimmy Nelson, decided he was going to do a tribute routine for Mr Nelson. He wrote and practiced and refined and practiced and finally was comfortable with a very funny and poignant routine which featured Danny O’Day’s first cousin Donny O’Day.

A Jimmy Nelson Celebration 70 Years of Laughter

jimmy nelson celebration

A few weeks have passed since the Vent Haven ConVENTion and I finally had the time to sit down and read the wonderful book which was part of the give away to all who attended this year.

This was put together in three sections making it a joy to go through. I actually sat and read it in its entirety and once I started I could not stop. What a great story of dedication to an art and the success that followed. Everyone in all walks of life should strive to do just as Mr Nelson has done with his ventriloquism and life.

Thoughts on Direct Linkage or Cord Control

cord direct linkage

Since the beginning of the use of ventriloquist figures the mechanics inside the head were done with cord and springs and either a ring pull or a lever on the head stick to make them work. For the most part makers were smart enough to use a small pulley over which the cord would ride to make the mouth function.

climb the ladder competition

I have been keeping up with the thread on Worldvents concerning having competition at the ConVENTion. I did not respond on Worldvents but I certainly have my opinion. I believe that competition has a good place in all sectors of show business.

I feel that those that sign up for a competition feel they have what it takes to do a good job with their craft and want to try and gain the recognition for their efforts. Many don’t think this is a fair practice because all that sign up are not good enough to compete but if the individual feels he or she is why should anyone say no. It certainly makes you try harder.
