The ConVENTion was a blast this year especially because of the tribute to Jimmy Nelson. As everyone should know his great characters were created by Frank Marshall. Danny O’Day is one of my favorite characters for sure.
I have been on the hunt for a Marshall creation that looks like Danny O’Day. Hence the story I am about to tell.
A few days ago we showed you some clippings sent to us from Bob Conrad about ventriloquist Paul Winchell.
Well, Bob has done it again, only this time he’s sent us clippings of ventriloquist Edgar Bergen along with this email:
My favorite performance of the senior group was Bob Baker.
I commented on him right away from ConVENTion. I am happy to now show you his performance at the Vent Haven ConVENTion 2011 and he is still my favorite.

In the world of ventriloquist figures females are not very plentiful. Today I am happy to show you this little girl who dates from the 1940’s to 1950’s.
Unfortunately I do not know the make but she is all carved wood head with wood body with original stuffed muslin arms and legs. Her hands are gloves with wire in them so her hands are posable. This was not an unusual occurrence back in the golden era. I have a few with cloth hands.
