Very Small Frank Marshall Ventriloquist Figure

Frank Marshall made ventriloquist figures in all sizes. This one I am showing you is a rather small figure that stands only 28″ tall. He is a terrific figure with a wonderful face.

He is very unusual because he has cast hands and cast feet instead of wood. They have always been on the original Marshall body. The original muslin on the arms and legs matches the muslin covering the body.

Marshall did a similar type figure for Ventriloquist Bob King and his figure was called Tiny. It too had hands and feet which were not carved wood.

This figure has mouth movement only and of course the head can move 360 degrees. The was crafted by Frank in the 1950’s and has great original paint and wig.

Another fine example of Frank Marshall’s work.

I wonder if this figure wasn’t a custom upgrade for a vent using a Willie Talk or other off the shelf figure. The hands look like the smaller Jerry Mahoney hands used on the 24″ figures.

I have been using smaller (36″) figures for a while and they seem to be a better fit for me than the 40-42″ figures.

Any idea who this one belonged to ?

    Curtis- I really want a Marshall-Jones

Curtis the hands and feet may very well be from a toy figure of the period. If Frank didn’t have something carved he certainly could have improvised ot even used what a customer may have wanted. As I said the figure Tiny, which was used by Bob King, also had doll hands and feet. So this is not unique from Frank. Unfortunately the original owner of this figure was not known. Believe me if I knew I would have put that information on the page.
