Art Sieving Ventriloquist Figure Maker

One of today’s best ventriloquists is Jay Johnson. His show “The Two And Only” is a wonderful show chronicling the adventures of Jay Johnson on his career path as a ventriloquist. I was privileged to see his performance before the show made it to Broadway in a very small theatre in Cambridge Ma. and I absolutely loved the show.

One of the things in the show that really caught my eye was Jay’s figure which he purchased from Art Sieving. A wonderful figure which Jay still has and brings him out each night in his show.

As a collector of ventriloquist figures I couldn’t get enough of this wonderful figure. Unfortunately for me Mr Sieving’s figures are no where to be found. I have never seen another one of his figures except for the one Jay owns.

I am just curious if any of you out there happen to have a pictures of Mr Sieving’s figures. I think it would be great to see some of his vetriloquial creations.

Florida Film Festival Film Celebrating Ventriloquists

We’ve all heard about the movie about ventriloquists called “Dumbstruck.” We received an email from Tiara Anderson letting us know that this movie will be shown at the Florida Film Festival.

Here’s the email:

WANTED: Florida or Central Florida Residents to come view the film “DUMBSTRUCK,” a film all about talented ventriloquists trying to make their artful dreams come true. From a young boy with a black hip-hopster dummy to the famous Terry Fator, this film and these real-life people will tug at your heartstrings.

Mystery Ventriloquist Curt Kenyon

It seems that Bob Isaacson is the most knowledgeable man when it comes to the old time ventriloquists. I love the other peoples guesses though so don’t let it stop you.

This was Curt Kenyon and he was from Woodstock N.Y. The figure that he is pictured with was named Woody Birch and he was a Mack figure.

Curt also owned a few Marshall figures. I wonder where they are now!!

Ventriloquist Figure Maker, Dan Payes – The Marriage Ref

One of the hardest working ventriloquist figure builders today is Dan Payes. Dan is one of the few that can actually say that building figures is the way he earns his living. It is not a part time job but a full time service that he offers.

Today Dan not only build for us common folk but he has a cast of pro vents that he is building figures for as well.

It seems his figures will once again be showcased on a national network television show this Thursday, April 1st, on the show called The Marriage Ref.
