After posting the blog to you, I immediately received a phone call from a newbie ventriloquist that asked me for some advise, (I am also the consultant for ventriloquism for the Puppeteers of America) and guess what his question was?

The Ventriloquist convention in Ft. Mitchell is soon upon us with many workshops. One of the annual lectures is a question/answer round table discussion with working professionals. Every year there seems to be a newbie asking the same question: “How much should I charge for a show?”.

Here’s a great little publicity photo I found featuring ventriloquist Edgar Bergen’s main pals, Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd.
It seems that Charlie has had enough of Mortimer and want to send him “out of this world”.
Alex Cameron is best known as the partner Frank Marshall had when they together bought out the Mack shop. Cameron was in charge of the architectural carving side and Marshall the ventriloquist figures. Mr Cameron did in fact carve a few figures and today you are privy to one of his figures.
I got this figure undressed and when I looked at him he just shouted Chinese to me so I dressed him in the Chinese outfit you see. The cue on his hair is actually part of the hat.
The Effanbee company made the Charlie McCarthy ventriloquist dolls along with another one, the W.C. Fields doll.
