Back in the 1960’s Paul Winchell became disenchanted with the Juro Toy Co and decided to release his Jerry Mahoney & Knucklehead Smiff figures himself.
He did a wonderful job on these toys because the likeness of the characters was far and away above what Juro had done. They really did look just like the original figures.
I am pleased to show you a very rare Frank Marshall figure of a Black Man. In Frank’s 1931 catalogue he is called the Negro (politically incorrect today).
This fellow came to me in undressed condition and is the very early Frank style figure. He has the head stick which runs to the bottom board, the body is the slat style, and the hands are the Marshall flat hands. Frank has his card pasted in the body as well as inside the head.
It seems that we get a lot of comments in the past when I’ve done videos featuring ventriloquist Johnny Main’s characters.
I have done some videos and in the back ground you see a Tiffany lamp. I have been asked by a few about and if it was for sale, so I thought I would explain.
I used to be in the antique business full time and have always loved the Tiffany lamps. They were always way too expensive for “original lamps” and most of the so called Tiffany copies were not even close.
Actress, comedianne and ventriloquist Amanda Jaros sent us this video last week.
Amanda is a native of Chicago, where her early work in theater began. After moving to California, she received her B.A. in Theater Arts from Azusa Pacific University, where she hosted the morning variety show Wake Up with Matt and Amanda! She has studied with the New York Drama Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts, the Groundlings school of improvisation, the Elephant Theater and Lesly Kahn & Co. Amanda’s talent and comedic timing have earned her success in stand-up, improvisational troupes, sitcom pilots, puppetry and ventriloquism.
