Not too long ago we did a telephone talk with Bill Nelson and Dan Lavender. At that time it was mentioned that a figure was being created for the Ventriloquist Central Collection by Dan Lavender. I am happy to say that figure has arrived and I could not be more impressed.
I would like to let you know how this figure and came about for the collection. I was talking to Dan Lavender a couple years ago and mentioned to him that I really wanted have one of his figures in the collection.
The Vent Haven ConVENTion is just a couple of days away. In fact, I’ll be leaving tomorrow with my wife Helen and we’ll be flying to the ConVENTion.
Unfortunately my partner Steve Hurst will not be able to make it this year, however there is a silver lining. He’ll be manning the Ventriloquist Central website to keep everyone up to date on the happenings at the ConVENTion.
I have been getting emails asking me about pricing on various makers of figures and I am more than happy to share my knowledge with anyone who asks but you must remember pricing is subjective and just because I may feel a figure is worth x number of dollars the person selling might take a very different approach to the value.
I have had to deal with families adding on dollars because of sentimentality. This can usually be overcome when you explain that sentimentality only has a value to the one person who is selling. It does not add value to the dummy.

Only a few days till all the fun begins at the Vent Haven ConVENTion. I am so excited that the ConVENTion is finally upon us. It will be so nice to again be among the crowd of people that has the same thing on their mind as me. Ventriloquism !!!
Most of the time around here at home in Boston when ever I comment or my wife Helen comments that I collect ventriloquist figures people look at me like I have 2 heads. They look at my wife and say” Ventriloquist Dummies?” how strange……So being able to be with everyone who has the same love as I do is something I really look forward to.
