Ventriloquist Figure Maker, Jack Coats Eyebrows


After the video on the blog about the Fakini owned Jack Coats figure (click here if you missed the blog), I had a question about the eyebrows on that figure. In the video they seemed a bit funny. Well it is good to get these questions because it gives me the chance to tell all of you about them.

Jack did his eyebrows, that were non moving, a bit different than most other makers because they were not just painted on or carved into the brow and painted. Instead Jack used a flock material to make the eyebrows and glued them on. For those of you that do not know what flock is, it is a very short felt type material on paper and was used quite a bit in designs on wallpaper back in the 1960’s and 70’s. The same time that Jack Coats was making his figures.
