Ron and Merle Blaskett Ventriloquists From Down Under

ronandmerle

Back in the heyday of ventriloquism one of the most famous from Australia was Ron Blaskett.

He became very famous for his use of his Frank Marshall ventriloquist figure named Gerry Gee. Before Gerry Gee came into existence Ron and his wife Merle used Len Insull figures.

This is a really great shot of the Blasketts with their Insull figures from around 1955.

My good friend Colin from Australia sent this great shot to me and I just had to share it with all my readers.

Thanks Colin!!

  1. Ben and MJ says:

Ron turned 90 this past April and is still entertaining. His son has followed in his parents’ footsteps and does corporate shows with his Gerry Gee II

  2. I was most interested to hear about Ron Blaskett, as I remember him from t.v. when I was a child in Australia. I also went to Greythorn High School and remember Ron’s son Peter from my year and heard he had followed in his fathers’ footsteps, although have not been able to find him in my searches I remeber him fondly.

  3. Susan Brunskill says:

My sister was talking to me recently about Ron Blaskett junior, whom she dated as a late teenager. She said she often wonders where he is and how he is. Do you have any news about him. We lived in Reading Ave, North Balwyn at the time in the late 60’s
