Interview With Bill Nelson, Artist

Our “Ace Reporter”, Matt Kimbro sent us an interview that he did with Bill Nelson. Instead of me telling you about it, here are Matt’s words:

Greetings to all in “Vent-Land” (by the way, that is what I think Dan should name his collection). I was fortunate to have a sit-down (ok, I emailed him questions and he replied) with well known artist Bill Nelson. Bill is famed for his wonderfully original and beautiful ventriloquist figures, art-dolls, and of course illustrations. I feel very fortunate to be a student of Bills (I’m a “very” amateur artist and an “immature” adult). His work is my number one inspiration (that means I copy his style and try to make mine look like his). I own several of his original illustrations and I’m quite proud to call Bill a friend.

I put on my ACE REPORTER hat and inquired with Bill about doing an interview for Ventriloquist Central thinking that he would respond with a big fat NO, because Bill is quite humble and not a bragger – but thankfully he said, “Yes.”

Enjoy!

A Happy Passover

It is holiday time again so I didn’t want to forget and wish all my Jewish friends a warm and wonderful Passover Holiday. I myself love this time because I get to have fried Matza & eggs. Seems it is the only time of the year I can get Helen to make it for me. If you have never had it you are missing a wonderful treat and ask a Jewish friend to make it for you. You won’t be sorry.

A Re-Do of A Selberg Into A Selbro

One of our regulars and who we sometimes call our Ace reporter Matt Kimbro has put out his shingle as a vent figure restorer or maybe I should say changer.

He has always wanted to try his hand at this and he certainly does have artistic skills. Check out his pencil drawing of Frank Marshall he did for us on the Marshall figures page.

Click here to see Matt’s Frank Marshall drawing

Matt purchased a Selberg and decided he wanted an old man figure so he………well I think I will let him tell you so…..
