Exceedingly Rare Len Insull Ventriloquist Figure

insull-rare-002S

There is a word I don’t like to use often and that is the word RARE. But I must use it in the description of this ventriloquist figure which I recently acquired for the Ventriloquist Central Collection.

This is a rare Insull figure made back in the 1950’s and he is I believe the smallest version that Len Insull produced. He is only 27″ tall and is a full functioning professional ventriloquist figure.

This little fellow has a paper mache head with side to side moving weighted eyes, lower lip moves and his ears wiggle. He has the flat bottom neck which falls through the neck hole into his paper mache body. The base of the body is wood. His hands and lower legs and feet are also paper mache. His hair is original mohair and his paint too is all original. A most unique find in the way of Len Insull figures.

I find that the face of this little fellow is very similar to the face Len Insull used on his pocket figures. You can see those here.

I do hope you enjoy seeing this rare Insull. It is the only one I have seen since I started collecting.

Happy Thanksgiving And More

I hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving. However, if after you’ve stuffed yourself and done watching football (or whatever you may be doing), I have a secret for you.

A new ventriloquist figure with photos has been added to the Ventriloquist Central Collection section. If you’re curious, you can start going through all the makers to find the new acquisition.

Otherwise, you’ll have to wait till tomorrow’s blog. Then I will reveal the figure.

One hint, I don’t like using the “rare” very often, but I can tell you, this little guy is RARE.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving From Ventriloquist Central

Here in the United States, tomorrow (Thursday) is Thanksgiving. I find it so comforting and I’m very thankful to know that Ventriloquist Central has become an established and well thought of stop for most ventriloquists today looking for any information on ventriloquism both old and new.

Now, I would like to say from myself and Steve, to all of you that come daily to our site, ” HAPPY THANKSGIVING” and may you stuff yourself like the proverbial bird and enjoy the day with all your family and friends and enjoy all that this day has come to mean.

Selling your Ventriloquist Figure

Many times I am asked why I do not sell on eBay very often so I thought I would go over this subject today. While I myself love eBay because it brings the entire world of selling to your finger tips I do feel that eBay has lost the spark it once had. They have become so strong and powerful that they have now made the only way you can do any transaction is by way of PayPal, which eBay owns.

The fees for final sales has risen dramatically and then the slice you lose as a seller to PayPal just made it, for me, a very expensive way to sell. I still feel that you should be able to accept a check or money order for payment and not have to double pay for the use of eBay.

We just instituted the $5.00 insertion fee for selling your figure or vent item on Ventriloquist Central in agreement with Puppets and Props and this small fee is like being able to sell vent items almost for free. It certainly is a lot less than using eBay. Also you can accept payment in any form you desire. You are the boss and you don’t have big brother watching you over your shoulder.

I am not saying I myself will not use eBay but I must admit that over the past year or so I have much more success with the Ventriloquist Marketplace. Just remember we now have a viewership of over 1500 per day so if you are going to sell your vent items we know you are getting great exposure here and on Puppets and Props.

Maybe some day eBay will return to the way it used to be. I do know they are not doing the business they used to not so long ago.
