Looking back at 2011 from Ventriloquist Central
Tomorrow we start a New Year, 2012. My partner Steve and I got together on the phone the other night and talked about the past year and the upcoming year. We thought we would share some of that conversation here on the blog.
With the continued success of Jeff Dunham and Terry Fator, the art of ventriloquism seems to be going strong. This is echoed by some of my ventriloquist friends who tell me they are getting more opportunities to perform….this is good.

Here is more advice from ventriloquist Bob Abdou:
The past 4 months I have been given the privilege of sharing my knowledge, experience and opinions on many topics of entertainment for ventriloquists. I hope it has helped some people venture out in the real world and perform. Many thanks to Dan and Steve for allowing me this opportunity.
I tried to write as if I was writing to myself when I first started in show business. The advice that I gave was not available 21 years ago. If I knew then what I know now it would have saved me lots of anguish, energy and money.

We are all familiar with the McElroy brothers because of their Rolls Royce ventriloquist figures of the 1930’s. These brothers were more well known for making superior marionettes at the time but they also produced a superb magical item called the talking skull.
The talking skull was not a new item to the magic fraternity at the time. As matter of fact the large magic supplier at the time Abbott’s, which became the McElroy brothers sales vehicle for ventriloquist figures, sold a terrific talking skull and is even in the same 1937 catalogue on page 290.
The New Year is right around the corner and with it will be a slight change to the Ventriloquist Marketplace.
This past year the Marketplace has had a record year of items being posted and sold not to mention a huge increase in traffic to the site. From the beginning, all we wanted to do was offer a place that ventriloquists and enthusiasts could buy, sell or trade their ventriloquial items. And we have done just that.
