I am constantly asked how many EXACTLY is the number of Frank Marshall figures that are currently in the Ventriloquist Central Collection.
I really had not counted in a long time because the number really didn’t matter to me but since I was being asked this so many times today I decided to do the actual count.

Ricky Layne and Velvel
I just had to write this up after reading an article published in the Sept.-Oct. 1948 Grapevine news. In this particular issue there is a review of the now famous (unfortunately deceased) Rickie Layne.
Rickie Layne became one of the most famous ventriloquists in the 1960’s having appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show many times with his side kick Velvel.

I was an active antique dealer for many many years and made many connections but you do have to outsource as well. One of my favorites was the use of an antique newspaper that was published weekly called the Newtowne Bee.
I am constantly asked ,” How do you find these incredible ventriloquist figures?” The answer is simple, I search for them everywhere.
I ask everyone that I come into contact with if they or anyone in their family was ever into ventriloquism or magic. You see magic is a very close relative in the world of ventriloquism.
