Left Hand Or Right Hand Ventriloquist Control

I was sitting and wondering if when you are using your ventriloquist figure do you automatically use what ever hand is your dominant hand? Or I could ask it this way, if you are right handed do you use your right hand to control the figure or if you are left handed do you use your left?

Len Insull Ventriloquist Figure Body

One of the rare items to find with ventriloquist figures from Len Insull here in the United States are his bodies. Maher Studios under Madeline Maher imported many Len Insull heads which they sold through their catalogues but Madeline always built her own bodies therefore the scarcity of Insull Bodies.

Insull bodies, like his heads, are made of paper mache with a wooden base. The upper legs and the arms were done with muslin but they were not sewn. Len glued everything.

How Many Ventriloquile Voices Do You Do?

I was reading a few messages on another board and I liked the subject so I thought I would post on Ventriloquist Central as well and see what the response would be.It was made mention that Terry Fator has hundreds of different voices but that is mainly because he does impersonations.

Also I have been told that it is easier to do a singing voice over a speaking voice but I do neither so I am only stating what I have been told.

Bodies, Arms and Legs of Vintage Ventriloquist Figures

I get quite a few emails asking me about the bodies arms and legs of vintage or “antique” ventriloquist figures.

The height of a full size ventriloquist figure is anywhere from thirty six inches tall to forty four inches tall. The average comes in at forty inches. Now this is just a general rule of thumb. I have found that on some of the antique figures that the legs are attached at the front of the body and will make the figure the larger size. Then I also have found that the legs are attached at the middle or back of the body and this will make them shorter, of course in length.
