I am very pleased to show you an extremely rare ventriloquist figure. He is called Lolly Frog and is the creation of Cecil Parkee. I know you are saying who is Cecil Parkee. Well he was a Chinese immigrant to Australia in the 1940’s and performed ventriloquism in Australia in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

If you go on the big auction site every so often you will find an Effanbee Charlie McCarthy for sale but they always have cracks, and chips, paint loss and moth holes in the clothes, missing the pearl buttons on the shirt and vest and missing the silk bow tie.
Today I am giving someone the chance to acquire one that is as close to perfect as you will find, without having to spend $1000.00 or more. Yes that is right. In mint condition these Charlie McCarthy figures will bring from $1000 to 1800 dollars.
I was contacted a while ago by a ventriloquist in Germany and was asked if I would be interested in a wood carved figure by maker Jerry Baum. I was totally unfamiliar with this man’s work but I love the wood carved figures so I asked for pictures and low and behold the figure was a rendition of Walter.
The was carved in the 1990s by Mr. Baum and is a very good rendition of the old curmudgeon. I think he captured his characteristic and he certainly is finely carved. He had a cast body but his hands are very well done and look like an old mans hands. I, like most everyone, love Walter so this was a nice figure to ad to the Ventriloquist Central Collection.
Here is a video of a unique and unusual figure. It is a soft cloth body with a cast paper mache head covered in the same green fabric as the body with a wooden head stick with lever to control the mouth movement. The eyes are wood spheres which are painted.
