A couple of weeks ago I did a video showing you this nice old man ventriloquist figure built by Rene Zendejas (click here to see blog).
Today, here’s a video showing the headstick of this figure.
Back last year we did a mystery vent and it didn’t take long for a few to identify the Ventriloquist as Eddie Garson and his Frank Marshall creation Chico Chico.
Eddie Garson performed with the Xavier Cugat Orchestra and he produced Chico Chico out of a conga drum. I really wish I could have seen that show. I certainly am old enough to remember the Xavier Cugat and Abbey Layne and then Charo but I never knew that there was a ventriloquist on board too.

Here’s a video showing Pinxy’s Charlie McCarthy Ventriloquist Figure. George Pinxy Larsen was a contemporary of Frank Marshall, Ken Spencer and the other ventriloquist figure builders of the golden era.
All of the makers were influenced by the popularity of Edgar Bergen’s Charlie and Mortimer figures. This full size figure is a wonderful creation in the likeness of Charlie McCarthy and he has moving mouth and side to side glass eyes.

For those of us in the United States, today we celebrate Memorial Day. It was formerly known as Decoration Day and it’s a day we pay our respects to the U.S. men and women who died while in the military service.
Take a few moments to stop and think and pay tribute to all those that have fought and died for us to give us this great country we have the pleasure of residing in.
For some, it’s also a day of picnics and family get togethers. So, no matter what you are doing today, be safe and enjoy the day.
