We’re having fun with the “mystery ventriloquist” so I thought we’d try another one. This picture is from 1939, can you guess the ventriloquist and the maker or makers of his ventriloquist figures?

Not sure, but it looks quite a bit like a young Jay Marshall. ???
I’m pretty sure the Vent is a young Jay Marshall; but not sure about the figures. The photo is rather faint, so hard to see any details of the figures. I’ll guess and say Pinxy figures.
Jay Marshall, no idea on figures
…Except to say they’re not “Lefty” but couldn’t tell you who made it either.
Jay marshall and the dummy to the left looks like a Mack and the one to the right looks like a marshall, at least his hand!
Yeah, the left figure can be a Mack…
The ventriloquist is Bill DeMar, the figures are Gilmer and Selberg :)
That’s my answer and I’m sticking to it… :)
Seriously: It does look like a very young Jay Marshall…and the figures are most probably Mack and Marshall.
Jay Marshall with an early Marshall figure on the left and a Pinxy on the right. So technically this is a pic of a Pinxy and TWO Marshall figures……
