Bob Abdou sent in more information about the First Annual Texas Ventriloquist/Puppeteers Gathering.
Texas is known for it’s size and talent. Many of the top ventriloquists have a Texas link: Jeff Dunham, Terry Fator, Ronn Lucas, Jay Johnson, Sammy King and ME, Bob Abdou. Now there is the Texas Ventriloquist/Puppeteers Gathering held on February 19th, 2011. What started as an idea could now be a foundation of things to come.
One word to describe this magical day could be: happy, wonderful, exciting and magical. We had guests travel from New Mexico, Kentucky, Arkansas join in on the fun.
Association plays a huge part in one’s learning experience so having 22 guests show up proves that all wanted to learn, laugh and have new friends. As you can tell by the photos, the gathering was very laid back, relaxing and fun. Each guest had a story to tell, each guest had a special puppet to show off, each guest got to see a wide range of puppets that audiences can enjoy.
I was asked if there is going to be one next year? My answer can only be, how could it not??
Next time you get a chance to have a cup of coffee and associate with your peers, do you self a favor and do it, especially with the upcoming Ventriloquist Central Birthday Bash in October 8th, 2011.
My motto is: Association is the key to growth especially with a cup of milk!!
Since this was just one way to promote the art of ventriloquism, we have decided to create a special web page complete with many pictures (courtesy of Shawn Patrello) in honor of the Texas Ventriloquist/Puppeteers Gathering 2011.

Looks like everybody had a great time, Peter Rich looks terrific. I believe that the Clown Marionette is from the late Steve Meltzer’s Puppet Theater. That’s the taller one on the left, the one on the right is Bob Abdou. Look forward to seeing you next month.
check out the you tube video above, how grateful I am that Steve videotaped this act,
yes, I got this from Steve’s estate after he passed away,
