Recently I had a good question come in to me about the Tommy Knots figures which were made by Frank Marshall. His question to me was were the wigged Tommy Knots figures an option from Frank Marshall. He question that because of the ones in the Ventriloquist Central Collection that have a wig on the head.
The answer is that Frank did them as a carved hair figure with no wig. These were produced on a duplicarver and were made to be as simple as possible. Stationary eyes with slot jaw. The hair was painted black and the face done in Frank’s usual manner.
The Tommy Knots figures that have the wigs on them in the Ventriloquist Central Collection were originally owned by Johnny Main and he was the one who put the wigs on them. He also made the sailor suits that are on those as well. Frank’s sailor suits were much closer to the original style US Navy sailor suit.
