I was contacted by Tom and Cheryl because Cheryl, who is special needs, has a great love of ventriloquism and found our web site on line. She was constantly asking her adviser Tom about being able to see the figures in the Ventriloquist Central Collection because they are actually in the area.
When Tom did in fact contact me I said that they could absolutely come over and see the collection. They came and we all had a really great time.
Here is what they wrote to me after the visit.
I again am going to ask the public. Does anyone know who made the ventriloquist figure used in this Hitchcock episode?
At first I thought it might be an Insull but with rolling eye winker and slot jaw I doubt it was made by Len.
This past Sunday the Florida Ventriloquist Association had their March Meeting. “Denny” Denemark was kind enough to send a few pictures of the meeting.
I have thought long and hard about writing this blog and after consulting with both my webmaster and my mentor in collecting I have decided I must breach this problem, it seems all of us in the ventriloquist world have to deal with, and that is……the time factor that we all must wait when we send off our beloved partners for repairs.
Now I am writing this because I took on this job myself and can say that without question these repairs on mechanics, for the most part, and re painting of a figure even with severe chips and gouges can be done in not a long time frame.
The Ken Spencer figure you all recently saw here on the Ventriloquist Central Blog, was an example of a figure that in the past I would have sent out to get repaired. The cost was not of concern, it was always the time frame waiting for its return that bothered me.
