My good friend Conrad Hartz sent me this photo with a short line of comment. I just broke up laughing and had to share it. Great Stuff from a great Ventriloquist Figure Builder.
There is always talk about which is better paint to use when finishing a ventriloquist figure. Most will tell you that the use of oils is the professional way because it has a much richer tone and blend. Of course all the golden era makers used oil paint because that was all that was available.
I had a request to see up close the working of the Frank Marshall raising eyebrows. As you know I have done several blogs plus have a page on the website specifically detailing the Marshall eyebrows.
Today I did a video so you can see from both the front and the side how Frank did his raising eyebrows. He really knew how they worked and had it down. The eyebrows most makers use today just look like windshield wipers and those just do not come close to how raising eyebrows are supposed to look.
When a performer goes on stage to do his act he must be very aware of the light conditions for his figure. If a figures paint is not done correctly either the light will bounce and reflect or will wash the color out completely. This is something that was also found in the early days of vaudeville.
