Frank Marshall carved this fellow on Dec 1, 1945 according to the info inside the head. It was carved for a George Botzel from Iowa. Also inside it says repaired and repainted by Frank Marshall in 1953.

Here is a video of a a very rare Frank Marshall figure of a Black Man. In Frank’s 1931 catalogue he is called the Negro (politically incorrect today).

Ventriloquist Central Video Collecting Series – Earliest Frank Marshall Ventriloquist Figure

This is the earliest Marshall figure in my collection. He dates around 1928 and he is in pretty remarkable condition. His paint is all original as well as his crepe hair and beanie cap.
