Yet More On Restoration of Frank Marshall’s Lucky Charlie

Im003824

After Lucky Charlie was stripped and sanded smooth there were a few details that had to get some attention. There was a chip on one of his lower teeth, a chip on the lower lid of one eye, some chipping on the top of his ears and a large piece missing on the bottom section of his neck. All of those had to be filled and then sanded down to be unnoticed and smooth.

A first coat of primer has been started and this will show any flaws that will still have to be sanded out. Great fund but very time consuming.

This is such a great looking character and you are doing some great work on him!

Dan, congratulations on an excellent job! As you say, a lot of fun but very time consuming… Sanding the patching compound when I make the papier mache heads for my own characters is always the worst part for me. Are you going to paint it yourself? Did you get any photos showing the original model? I don’t know of any photo other than the one I already told you about, on Stanley Burns’ book. Keep up the good work, Dan, it’s coming along beautifully!

  3. You are doing a great job! Thank you for sharing your progress.
