Ventriloquist Toys

I have been asked by a lot of folks why I don’t show toy ventriloquist figures on Ventriloquist Central.

I must say if you go to the Tribute of Ventriloquism pages there is a whole section devoted just to the toy ventriloquism figures. But that doesn’t answer the question that I have been asked.

When I first started collecting I did in fact buy all of the toy figures. Charlie McCarthy, Jerry Mahoney, Danny O’Day etc. etc. But what happened to me was I was not satisfied and wanted to upgrade to wood carved figures.

Soon I was selling off the toy figures and replacing them with wooden figures. It was a process to say the least because I had amassed examples of just about every toy figure in all their variations. Today there are some that I wish I had back but if I really want them they are available. Toy shows and of course the big online auction vehicle offer all the toy figures.

So even though I have eliminated most of the toys from the Ventriloquist Central Collection the few that I have kept I still love.

I have quite a number of the Effanbee Charlie McCarthy figures in both sizes, I have the 1966 issued Jerry Mahoney & Knucklehead Smiff figures by Paul Winchell and a few other Ralph Freundlich and K&S figures.
