    … and he got his first big break on television by succeeding another ventriloquist — Edgar Bergen — as host of Who Do You Trust, which had been called Do You Trust Your Wife during the year that Edgar and Charlie hosted the program.

    Several famous performers started out as ventriloquist, Ted Knight, Don Knots, David Copperfield. I didn’t know Carson was a vent.
