Ventriloquist Figures – Displayed or in a Case?

I have been engaged in emails about having your figures cased if you are not using them. This is very tough for everyone to answer. If you only have one or two figures and they are your tools then more than likely you are going to keep them in a case with the heads covered and the hands gloved and you take them out when you perform. This I understand and go along with one hundred percent.

If you have multiple figures and you like looking at them then I don’t think that they have to be cased. Sit them on a chair or on the couch and let them be a part of the family. They don’t eat, complain, ask to change the station and in some cases you pick one up and it talks and says everything you can’t.

Now if you are a collector some have talked about having figures encased in clear cases for viewing. For me this just misses the point entirely. I like to have all the figures out and ready to be picked up and used at any moment. What fun is it to have a collection that you can’t handle. Even though I do not perform I still love to pick them up and work them and I never know which one I want to use. I have all the figures out and if anyone comes for a private visit I actually encourage them to use them and see what the controls of these older figures are like.

Most folks that pick up a Frank Marshall figure and feel how smooth and noiseless the functions are become amazed. Yes the controls on these old figures are that good.

With the Ventriloquist Central Birthday Bash quickly approaching (still have space if you want to join us), I’m busy getting all the figures ready to be displayed. As I stated above, if you come for a private visit, I don’t mind you picking up the figures. However at the Birthday Bash, only taking pictures are allowed. But don’t fret, I’m sure you’ll still be amazed.

Have you signed up for the Ventriloquist Central Birthday Bash?

One Response to Ventriloquist Figures – Displayed or in a Case?

    This is from https://ventriloquistcentralblog.com/ventriloquist-levers-or-ring-pulls/#comments

I keep standing figure in oak/glass chest. There it stands inside looking out, yet with a long string and hook on one end tied to a hook that attaches onto the mouth lever string and the other string end tied to a large ring, the extended mouth string coming out the corner of the chest door and ring ready to pull. My grandchildren and their friends come up to the chest, pull on the ring and figure’s mouth opens and closes, and tugging at the ring causes figure to move around somewhat. They like that, being able to make him open and close his mouth and move around. This is about my only use of a ring as such other than that used when figure brought outside the chest and another ring with string channeled through coat sleeve serves to make it appear he can operate a yoyo up and down by pulling at the ring located shoulder level, but other than that the extended mouth string from the locked chest is my only use of the ring. The children really like being able to pull on that ring to do what they can do with it from that protected distance to keep sensitive areas like eyebrows from getting yanked off. – See more at: https://ventriloquistcentralblog.com/ventriloquist-levers-or-ring-pulls/#comments
