I am pleased to offer you a chance to purchase a very old John Turner figure. This figure is special because he is the exact same face as the original Red Flannels Turner figure used by Terry Bennett.
This figure is the way I like to find them in original condition. The paint on his face is presentable from a 10 foot distance, but up close you can see his paint is chipped and cracked.
His old body had no arms and legs so I replaced them with new muslin arms and legs and a set of wonderful McElroy style hands. The bottom board on the body came from an old wooden crate and it was from Lever Brothers. (I believe they were soap dealers back in the day)
He stands 40″ tall and has mouth movement only. He is carved pine, as that is what Turner used. You can use him as is or repaint him if you like. He has a great face.
If the figure were listed by an antique dealer in American Folk Art this would sell in the $2000.00 price range. The antique dealer would leave it as it is found.
You can buy a toy or conversion figure and pay almost what I am asking for this great antique figure.
