Fabulous Find Within The Fred Maher Brochure

I was checking out an original 1940’s Fred Maher brochure (that I happened to get in a lot of paper on ventriloquism) and what a surprise to see one of the Marshall figures pictured in the brochure that is now a member of the Ventriloquist Central Collection.

Dwight Hamborsky Jr. decided that his Marshall figure, which was his fathers figure, should reside here and low and behold there in the brochure is Dwight Sr with his Marshall (2nd picture below, top left corner). I was flipping out when I saw it and decided you should see this too. Just shows you how things go around and come around.

Also shows how good a marketer Fred Maher was at the time.

Love it! Also noticed Denis Alwood and Stu Gillum who later became a popular stand up comedian… saw him do vent on a TV show back in the late 60’d/early 70’s too. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Bob Conrad says:

Great piece of vent history, thanks for sharing.

I have an old brochure also, and have always treasured it. They show the many different figures and talk about using a wood flour composition material. I will have to get it out and find a way to scan it so it can be seen by others…
