I celebrated my birthday this year at the Vent Haven ConVENTion and one of my good friends there presented me with a wonderful gift. Ken Shapiro, one of the last writers for Edgar Bergen, he actually donated a script to the museum this year, surprised me with a wonderful caricature of Charlie McCarthy.

Now you all know that Charlie McCarthy, which was carved by Bob Isaacson, sits in my den apart from all other figures. And this great gift will be in the den also.

Ken did not know who drew this and neither do I but it is wonderful and I love it. Thanks for the great b’day gift Ken.

The one eye looks a lot like the CBS logo and, of course, Bergen’s show was on CBS Radio.

Ken Shapiro is a class guy. And VERY funny.
