Today was a real treat for me because professional ventriloquist Mike Robinson, who is currently performing on Holland America Cruise lines, had his ship the Maarsdam dock in Boston. Mike told me he had a window of about 5 hours and wanted to know if he could come to my house to see the ventriloquist figure collection. I was happy to accommodate so I drove into the seaport section of Boston and picked up Mike from his ship and then drove back to my house.

Mike told me that as a child he watched the Uncle Bobby show all the time so he was thrilled to be able to actually hold Happy Hazard and work his controls. He also was amazed at the great Johnny figure which was made by Lee Dunn. We spent a couple hours looking over the many figures, then we went to lunch and after lunch I drove him back to catch his ship which departs this afternoon. We had a wonderful visit.

Mike thanks for contacting me and coming to see the collection.

  1. I just wanted to say that I had the pleasure of meeting Mike Robinson on 3/24/2009 at a hotel in Fort Lauderdale and from a personal side, Mike is one of the most inspiring people that I have ever met. He is funny of course, but his demeanor and ability to set an example for younger people in the world is incredible. We need more Mike Robinsons in the world. Thanks Mike

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shirley_Dinsdale Mike, My wife Nancy & I had the pleasure of watching your show and later talking to you during our recent cruise on the Zandamm. Nancy mentioned a ventriloquist named Shirley Dinsdale and her figure named Judy Splinters. You were unfamiliar with her. Above is here wiki page. Mike
